Global Distribution of Novel Rhinovirus Genotype
نویسندگان
چکیده
Global surveillance for a novel rhinovirus genotype indicated its association with community outbreaks and pediatric respiratory disease in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America. Molecular dating indicates that these viruses have been circulating for at least 250 years.

A recently identified rhinovirus genotype is associated with severe respiratory-tract infection in children in Germany.
Acute respiratory infection is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in children worldwide. Accurate identification of causative agents is critical to case management and to prioritization in vaccine development. Sensitive multiplex diagnostics provide us with an opportunity to investigate the relative contributions of individual agents and may also facilitate the discovery of new path...
متن کاملGenotyping of human rhinovirus in adult patients with acute respiratory infections identified predominant infections of genotype A21
Human rhinovirus (HRV) is an important causative agent of acute respiratory tract infections (ARTIs). The roles of specific HRV genotypes in patients suffering from ARTIs have not been well established. We recruited 147 adult inpatients with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) and 291 adult outpatients with upper ARTIs (URTIs). Respiratory pathogens were screened via PCR assays. HRV was detected...
متن کاملEpidemiological features and genetic variation of human respiratory syncytial virus (HRSV) infection in Chungnam, Korea
We investigated the epidemiological patterns and genetic variation of Human Respiratory Syncytial Virus (HRSV) isolated from Chungnam, Korea, during 2011-2014. It was screened 3,531 nasopharyngeal aspirate samples from patients with acute respiratory symptoms for HRSV and other respiratory viruses by real-time reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction. Temporal distribution of the HRSV ep...
متن کاملGenome Sequences of Rhinovirus B Isolates from Wisconsin Pediatric Respiratory Studies
Nearly full-length RNA genome sequences for 39 rhinovirus B isolates (RV-B), representing 13 different genotypes, were resolved as part of ongoing studies at the University of Wisconsin that attempt to link rhinovirus (RV) diversity and respiratory disease in infants.
متن کاملGenome Sequences of Rhinovirus A Isolates from Wisconsin Pediatric Respiratory Studies
Full-length or nearly full-length RNA genome sequences for 98 rhinovirus (RV) A isolates (from the Enterovirus genus of the Picornaviridae family), representing 43 different genotypes, were resolved as part of ongoing studies to define RV genetic diversity and its potential link to respiratory disease.
